- Greetings from the Trading Floor in North London!!
We are happily ensconsed at a trading floor in Islington: the most eager punters on PoliticalBetting.com scouring the interweb for details of value and dismissing exit polls with hardened skepticism.
This is where you should be if the main site goes down temporarily - DO NOT KEEP PRESSING REFRESH ON THE MAIN SITE WHEN IT IS DOWN - we'll let you know when it is back up and running.
This is only the beginning - have a great night all!

Thanks Morus. Sorry I can't be with you all tonight.
Let's go Obama.
What about the bandwidth on this one? I don't think the non regulars have got the message which might make it quieter.
Main site back up.
Well, I posted this on the other thread:
Morus, I on the other hand have never lost a bet to Mike Smithson and say the race is still in play! (that said I think Obama McCain is something like 5/1 on V 5/1 against)

So, Indiana's looking a bit manky for McCain then.
Has the main site gone down?
Looks like it - hopefully Mike hasn't gone to bed yet!
Main site seems down as all the SNP posters sent wild Highland curses at the screen.
The site is down...
From the Guardian:
"Latest snippet (from a Tory): "Labour are up in boxes where they shouldn't be up."
The ballot verification process is over. The proper counting is underway.
Hinds has just read out the turnout figures - 52%."
Labour have won! Crivvens.
Radio Scotland: Labour to win by 5,000, according to Lib Dem and Tory sources.
BBC reporting latest rumour Labour win - majority halved
Main site's down again?
IS THIS RIGHT? THE SNP ARE PREDICTING A LABOUR WIN?
"I've never attended a count where the predictions have veered around so wildly. The SNP are now briefing that, on the basis of the figures that they've seen, they expect Labour to win by between 3,000 and 5,000 votes."
Labour now backed down to 1.01 again. On reflection, seanT was quite right: this by-election is deeply significant and will determine British politics for years. :-)
If Jim Murphy is claiming that they have won it, then it's over.
Stephen Pound on Sky defending economy. Things must be worse than we thought. (He thinks retail sales are holding up well - yes really!)
lol Nick! Your comment will probably be tomorrow's front pages!
NEW THREAD
Labour win? Or ramping?
Fair's fair. A jolly good result for Labour.
A VERY poor result for Salmond. Mildly depressing for the Tories.
LDs, derrr?
More serious comment - if Labour has really won by several thousand, it's a truly wonderful result in the circumstances. Everything I've said about the lack of canvass data and the deep pessimism of all the MPs I've talked to was true, so it'll be an astonishing success for Gordon, Sarah and the team up there. Frank Roy for the Cabinet!
