Alas I'm unable to get into the admin area and new posts until this is resolved will be on here.
It was all my fault. I was planning to reduce the number of comments per page for Martin's statement so we could deal with an expected spike in traffic. Thus I could have boosted our capacity by four-fold if the standard number of comments had been reduced from 250 to 50. Alas I got distracted and failed to do it in time.
Thankfully we have PB2.
Will Farage become Tory leader before 2026?

First!
Second.... to call for a general election now!
My last post tonight.
Don't forget Mike's on Newsnight which should be worth watching for once.
As I said on a previous thread, if Brown protects the Speaker defying the will of the Commons it could be even worse than expenses.
Parliament is paralysed by this issue. There has to be a GE
Where is McDoom???, what has he said that is of any relevance???
The man is an utter buffoon.
MTF
I miss those oversized post numbers - please come back real Pb.com
I guess we just have to be patient - I can't even get partial access
My Newsnight bit was cancelled
MTF. Brown was busy with the important business of launching the British bid for the 2018 World Cup.
Well The bid is sunk before it got off the ground.
I am embarrssed by whats going on, its humiliating for the nation.
'The main site is back...'
Er, would that be why I get a HUGE message Error trying to establish a Database Connnection ?
That's one achievement for Michael Martin then; crashing PB. That'll keep him happy in retirement.
It takes a certain amount of bravado to sit through what he did today without even acknowledging that he'd go at the election as trailed, but puts Brown on the spot for whether to allow the debate.
Is Nick Brown's mug on the front page of the Telegraph today at all??
I know that Michael Martin is the big story today, but surely after all those other MP's have been named and shamed in this way, I would expect them to go big on the Chief Whip of the Labour party?
PS, not seen been able to access the main site at all since it went down?
Mike. Sorry to hear your Newsnight interview has been cancelled. I was looking forward to hearing your analysis.
ITV News at Ten and Newsnight were both bloody for Speaker Martin. An absolute embarrassment. ITV described him as a dead man walking.
Can I plead with the electorate of Luton to spare us from the prospect of Esther Rantzen as its next MP. Ridiculous idea.
Rantzen won't get elected - she is a spoiler candidate.
Carol Thatcher would stand more of a chance...
The front pages are brutal for Martin tomorrow. This could have all been so different today. My memories of the last days of the Major government are quite vague, too busy with three children under four. Black Wednesday, the rebels, and sleaze jump out. But it really was just a handful of individuals.
But was it really as bad as this?
Great headline for tomorrow's Times re Speaker Martin. "Last Orders".
Why oh why is that self-opinionated woman Rantzen jumping in with her big feet. Moran is finished anyway after her excesses and with her tiny majority. In fact her only chance of Labour winning Luton South would be if Rantzen were to turn normal voting patterns upside down.
Interesting to hear the comments on Newsnight about the next Speaker - the front runners were discounted in favour of the likes of Berkow (sp?), Cable and even David Davis.
It will be an interesting test of the Labour leadership to see if they reverse the astonishing endorsement of Margaret Moran today by the Luton South party officials.
Peter. Hear Hear re Rantzen.
Tomorrow's paper's increase the likelihood of Martin going and you and I collecting on our bets on a 20090exit for Martin.
Kevin Maguire on Sky News says when you rely on Stuart Bell to defend you, you're finished!
stjohn -I thought on Newsnight tonight that Bell who is clearly not the sharpest knife in the box, totally gave the game away by saying, TWICE, that Martin would quit once HH was in a position to present new proposals, agreed by the Speaker's Committee, to the House. This was such a clearly well-rehearsed line, obviously agreed with Martin, it just had to be true. Not sure exactly how that pans out on terms of a likely date, but presumably before Christmas.
stjohn, when Maguire is acting like shocked bystander, you know its bad.
Just seen the front page of the Daily Mail, that is not going to go down well in Downing Street. They have nailed Brown to that headline, will he now be forced to give this motion government time?
Look around the blogsphere today, I was struck by the way that the power is shifting from Brown to Cameron. The focus is now very much on him, and what he can, or should do on the issue of the Speaker.
Brown likes to set out a position which sets up a contrast with the Tories, well it looks like he has left the stage altogether. Cameron is now in the spotlight.
PB.com is back!
Frankly, not before time!
Main site is really starting to struggle again, Mike. I guess Robert is asleep in NYC though...?
Don't tell me the site has gone down again......
Are we down at the main house?
Is the site down?
Is the main site down?
It seems the main site has gone down YET again - it certainly can't be blamed on traffic volumes this time - it being 12.08 am on 24 May 2009.
Methinks you need to invest in some new kit that actually works Mike!
Tory Bear is reporting Purnell has quit?
Oh dear...
Flint backing Brown"
Typical woman, they always change their minds.
pb is gay. Sort.
